My research interests center on the application of photothermal spectrometry for ultrasensitive chemical analysis and material characterization. This includes trace analysis of air, liquids and solids, with an emphasis on instrumentation, technique development, thermodynamics of energy transfer, and models for both molecular and homogeneous fluid heat transfer. Interesting corollaries to this research include all-optical spectroscopic signal processing, optical and digital filtering, and I am especially interested in the momentum transfer that occurs at the interface of semitransparent materials. My research is currently centered more on understanding energy transfer physics and modeling of "real world" experiments using finite element method physics models.
