As a student in this Department, you
will
have as your instructors some of the most talented and dedicated
teachers in the nation. Your courses will be taught by professors who
are at the top of their fields, yet are very much interested in the
development of each and every student.
We offer several courses of study,
each
designed for students with specific interests, such as biochemistry
or
medical professions. For example, you could choose to work toward a
BS
degree in either chemistry or biochemistry. Chemistry majors can
elect
emphases in a number of different areas including professional or
environmental chemistry, life science, or chemical education.
Many of our students engage in
research
during their time here, which puts them in touch with some of
the
exciting and modern developments in chemistry, and enables them to
do
work on some of the most sophisticated equipment in the world. We are
housed in a beautiful new chemistry building that was just completed,
and encompasses some of the most functional and up-to-date labs and
lecture rooms in the nation. Our graduates have found enjoyable and
profitable careers upon receiving their degrees.
