Applying for graduate program
The first step is to determine your residency status.
If you are a Domestic Student please fill out the US residents pre-application form |
If you are an International Student (even if you are currently attending a school or University in the US) please fill out the Non-US residents pre-application form |
The following documents will be requested if your pre-application form is chosen for further consideration:
• Statement of Purpose
• Official transcripts and degree certificates from all institutions attended. (GPA Conversion Guide)
• GRE (general exam) official test scores. Minimum scores of the 40th percentile (470 for the verbal section and 530 for the quantitative section in old version, and 148/147 for verbal/quantitative in the revised GRE) are required by the School of Graduate Studies.
• Three letters of recommendations.
In addition, international students from non-English speaking countries must submit results of English language test (one from the list below):
TOEFL official test scores (paper/computer/internet based test: 570/230/89 minimum required)
IELTS (score 6.0 minimum required)
PTE Academic(score 53 minimum required)
Students from English speaking countries do not need to take a language test. (List of English speaking countries)
Due to the nature of graduate course
sequences, it is highly recommended that students enter the graduate
program in the Fall semester. Although there are no application
deadlines, submission of all application materials (including
transcript, GRE score, three letters of recommendation, and TOEFL/IELTS
scores for foreign applicants) by April 15th is strongly encouraged.
For consideration in the Willard L.
Eccles Foundation Science Fellowship competition, applications should be
completed by February 15. If requested from you by the committee,
please mail the above items electronically and all correspondence to chem.grad@usu.edu or paper letters to:
